For years I had wanted a serger. A friend of mine had one and we did a lot of sewing at her house using her serger. It took me a very long time to justify the cost! About 10 years ago I took the plunge and bought my Baby Lock serger - Model BL4-838. It has the 4-3-2 thread overlock.

Shortly after I bought my Baby Lock, I fell and broke my ankle very badly. My serger was put away for a long time. Then I wanted new valances for my kitchen windows. I went to a near-by craft store and bought my material! I used an all cotton material and in a snap - the serger stitched and cut off the excess of my material. It will not ravel when you use a serger. It took less than an hour to get them made. What a great machine.

Over four years have gone by again since I have used my Baby Lock. It seems like as soon as I got the serger I stopped sewing almost completely.

There are so many good features to my Baby Lock. It has a differential feed that makes it easier to feed the material into the machine. If you use 3 threads, it makes wonderful hems on blankets or napkins to name just two. You can make about six napkins in an hour. When you pull down the front panel, it is color-coded for threading the four threads. There are two needles and two loopers to get the four thread effect. You can also sew a blind hem with this serger. Another great feature is making a ruffle in minutes! There are many more uses for this Baby Lock, I just gave you a few of them.

A Baby Lock instruction video came with my serger. It leads you through everything that you need to know about how to use this machine.

I still have hopes of getting back into sewing. It seems like I have less time to get things done since I am retired!!! How did I do it all when I was working? I worked too hard to get this Baby Lock to just let it set idle....maybe the new year will bring me a stronger interest in this great hobby.

If you ever wanted to sew on a serger, I would highly recommend a Baby Lock serger. It is so much fun to use.
