| merm4522's Full Review: Bodum Chambord 2032 6.34-Cup Coffee Maker |
I bought this coffee maker at Wal Mart for (I think) about $10.00. It's small, and I am cheap so I'm sure I didn't pay $20 or even $15. I had a regular sized drip coffee maker but because it takes up so much room on the counter, I kept it in the cupboard. That, coupled with the fact that I am the lone coffee drinker in the home I couldn't be bothered to take it out every day to make coffee. This little number takes up very little space on the counter and is light, so even taking it out and putting it away every day wouldn't be a problem.
You use the included travel mug to fill up the water resevoir and somehow it is designed in a way that the mug does not spill when you pour it in, unlike a regular mug. The filter is plastic mesh and a permanent part of the basket, eliminating the need to use a paper filter. Both the basket and its holder can be removed easily for cleaning. What I love most about this coffee maker is that it shuts off automatically after brewing so there is no more worrying about whether I shut off the pot and if the house is going to burn down! (I am very forgetful and worry about these things often.)
The coffee brews in under five minutes, it is a little loud while doing so; it makes a kind of sputtering noise, which I don't mind, because I know that it's working. There is no warming plate on the bottom underneath the mug, but that is fine for me because I am usually running out the door when I make coffee, so it is not needed. The coffee is VERY HOT when finished, so it's great for the ride to work, and stays hot for a long time afterward. You can actually put in your cream and /or sugar ahead of time and put the top on and it will still go into the mug without spilling.
The only thing I would change about this product is the ability to put the mug in the microwave to warm it back up (it's stainless steel) for when I get to work and am too busy to drink it all before it cools down. You can also use it to make tea or hot chocolate, you can use other mugs with it and it makes a big serving so you can easily split it with someone. I would recommend this coffee maker for a college student or single coffee drinker definately!
