Are you the only coffee drinker in the house? Or how about the on the go person who needs to take their cup of coffee wherever they go? Well, I answer yes to both those questions. I work in the morning and leave for work at 5:00am. When I leave the house, I'm usually wide awake, but my long 30 mile drive to work just puts me back to sleep. For anyone who drinks coffee while they drive, it's almost a sense of relief to have that cup sitting right next to you. I used to have a 4 cup coffee maker and when it broke, I gave up on coffee just because I got sick of buying the filter, measuring the coffee grounds, and wasting the left over coffee. Then, washing the pot. Since I'm the only coffee drinker in my house, I decided to buy me one of those coffee brewers that brew straight into a cup. I found one even better, and $5 cheaper for one that brews into it's own travel thermal mug. I LOVE IT!!! It comes with it's own washable permanent filter with a black line which you could use to measure the amount of coffee grounds you pour in. The thermal mug has a pop up lid with a small slit to sip the coffee. On the down side is that there's no cover for the slit so you might splatter if you're clumsy, or on the road.
First, fill the coffee maker to the fill line with water. Second, just pour in your coffee grounds to the black line in the filter. Third, place your mug with the lid ON into the coffee maker, and then push the switch to the ON position. In about 2 to 3 minutes, you'll have steaming hot coffee ready to be zipped out of the house and onto the road, or straight to the study desk.
The reason why you could leave the coffee lid on while it's brewing is because the flat part of the lid is slightly slanted toward the slit. So even though the coffee is brewing in the middle of the lid, it pours right into the slit. The thermal mug keeps your coffee nice and sipping hot for about 20 minutes.
I also use my coffee maker to make tea or hot water for some cocoa.
Clean up is so EASY compared to a regular coffee maker. Just wash your thermal mug, empty out the filter, and the dripper, and wash those too. It recommends that you run one part white vinegar and one part water about twice, one time per every few months, depending on how heavy of a drinker you are, and if you have hard water or not.
I should add however that the water fill line is very hard to see especially in the morning when you're eyes are still 98% shut closed. Also, cleaning the permanent coffee filter can be a pain in the ars when you hate having to rinse out a bit of the coffee grinds into your sink after you've tried beating the filter to the side of your trash can trying to get rid of most of the grinds.
