Black & Decker TRO6100CT toaster oven is handy and very efficient
Written: Dec 28 '01 (Updated Dec 29 '01)
We have had this toaster oven for a year, and it has worked flawlessly. We purchased this one after reviewing Consumer Reports rating on toaster ovens.
We mainly use it to cook small items such as biscuits and muffins. They seem to rise or puff up bigger and better than our regular oven. Another primary use is to reheat pizza slices. It is a whole lot easier and more efficient than heating a full size oven, and better than using a microwave.
It is used much more in the summer (to keep kitchen heat down), maybe 2-3 hours a week.
The appliance has never been repaired.
We do not use it for regular toasted bread, except for bagels. A regular toaster is more convenient for just plain toast.
The removable crumb tray is a nice feature, making it easy to clean out.
The thermostat seems to be accurate. Times to cook items are pretty close to instructions.
A few quirks...
- the removable rack does not come out when the door is opened. We knew that when purchasing the oven.
- the timer needs to be set past 10 minutes or it might not count down.
- some of our pans won't fit in the oven, but you can't have everything. It's size is fine; it's just that we had to find the right size pans to fit inside.
- the "feet" are not anti-skid, and we have had it move a bit on us when closing the door. It would have been nice to see some type of anti-skid or rubber pads on the feet.
