VersaBrew Plus - A "Plus" Or Not?

Pros: Automatic timer, automatic shutoff, and sneak-a-cup feature.
Cons: Difficult to pour water from pot to reservoir, and difficult to clean.
The Bottom Line: Since overall service has been very good, I would recommend this product. Just be aware of a few inconveniences with this model.

Recently, our old coffee pot at work finally brewed its last pot of coffee, so we went in search of a replacement. Our choice was the Black & Decker 12-Cup VersaBrew Plus. At first glance, this coffee maker appeared to have all the bells and whistles available. This model is equipped with an automatic timer, and the thought of having a fresh, hot pot of coffee when I arrived at work sounded wonderful. It also has an automatic shut-off feature, so no more worries of leaving the pot on in the evening and coming in the next morning to find leftover coffee stuck to the pot or worse, to find the carafe cracked. The clock on the front of this unit, as well as the automatic timer, is very simple to set, and the clock is easy to read at a distance. The carafe appears to be made of a thicker glass than some carafes, and the handle is firmly attached and very sturdy. The "sneak-a-cup" feature while coffee is still brewing is heaven...no mess to clean up.
Now for the down side. This unit is definitely not easy to clean. I'm still struggling to determine a simple way to remove the swinging brew basket from the unit. When the brew basket is in place, the space for the carafe is almost too snug; at best, a very tight fit. However, my biggest problem is the shape of the pour spout on the carafe. I have yet to figure out how to pour water from the pot into the reservoir without spilling about a half cup onto the countertop.
While the overall service from this coffee maker has been very good, should the time ever come to replace it, I think we'll do a bit more shopping around rather than replace it with the same model again.
