Pros: size, looks, accuracy, reliability, usefulness
Cons: a few crumbs can slip down under the door hinge
The Bottom Line: I'd recommend this toaster oven without reservation. It's relatively inexpensive and quite accurate.

| nutmegct's Full Review: Kenmore KTES8 Toaster Oven |
I read the Consumer Reports recommendation on the KTES8 and bought one at Sears on sale for $59. Replaced my 10 year old Munsey 88 (thermostat had died - no replacements found).
In the two weeks I've owned the KTES8 I've baked an apple pie, toasted plain bread, roasted nuts, and broiled hamburgers. Everything worked perfectly - can't find anything to complain about. Even the thermostat was accurate (hard to say that about toaster ovens). The 60 minute timer turned the oven off correctly, the toast settings (light, medium, dark) actually make better toast that my last standard toaster (a Procter Silex of 15 years ago).
Yes the case gets hot - but every heating appliance I've ever had gets hot when it's on.
To be honest, I felt I had to write this review after reading all the negative reviews here. I checked out epinions and first wondered if I even had the same oven others are describing.
The 60 minute timer can be set for any number of minutes 1-60 (not just in 10 minute increments like another review says). The on-off switch for toasting works perfectly; the directions say it's for toasting, and say nothing about using the on-off for oven heating.
Certainly can't imagine the oven setting food on fire, unless you leave something under the heated elements way too long. And the reviewer who says you have to leave the door ajar to bake something - where that came from I'll never know. Of course, if someone *were* to leave the door ajar while baking, it's going to get way too hot anyway, as it will never reach proper temp inside!
I have to say the apple pie (a full size 9 inch pie with to and bottom crusts) came out *fantastic*. The oven held a good 425 degrees for the full hour (I used a separate oven thermometer, and it matched the temp setting I used for the oven).
And I baked four potatoes (medium sized bakers) in one hour at 400. (with the oven door closed!)
So if you've made it this far ... thanks for your patience, and don't fear this toaster oven. It's great!
