| splinky313's Full Review: Kenmore KTES8 Toaster Oven |
Finding the right toaster oven ended up to be a daunting task. I have certain features that were must haves, and most of the toaster ovens didn’t have all of them. Or , they were difficult to use. I compared the Sears to all the Black and Decker models, Oster, Cuisinart, and Toastmaster.
I was looking for a separate on, off control switch for making toast. And a light, medium and dark setting switch was also important. I usually use the toaster oven to toast bread, rolls, bagels or other items almost every morning, so making toast is a very important feature. It can fit 4 slices of toast inside at one time.
This Sears model is very easy to use. Place the item you want to toast on the wire rack inside, set your control switch to either light, medium or dark, and then push the toast start button. My results after using it a week has been very good. The toast came out almost perfect every time, when I set it to the medium setting.
Another important feature is reheating. The inner tray that sits on the wire rack is very heavy and well made compared to the trays of the Black and Decker models I looked at. The size of the warming tray is also larger then most others. You can reheat more items at one time. You would set the control to bake, set the temperature desired on the temperature setting dial, and set the time to the desired minutes.
A lot of competitors are not including timers for baking or broiling, or they are not including on/off buttons for making toast. Sometimes a simple on/off switch can be very important. And a timer can possibly prevent a fire if you are reheating something.
The glass door is very sturdy and closes tightly, its not flimsy like most of the Black and Decker models. It can also stay open about a ½ inch, when you are broiling.
