I love this coffee maker. I've never had overflow problems and have used a variety of coffees and filters with it. I think perhaps others' problems with overflows have to do with the type of coffee/grind they're using. It should, after all, be the type and size for a DRIP coffee maker. The thing is awesome and high tech, but you can't expect it to fly us to the moon and perform equally for different grinds/coffees/filters. Also they might have accidently used two coffee filters which would explain why it filled up too fast and didn't drain fast enough.

I keep it right next to my bed and sometimes let the aroma of the prepared coffee be my alarm clock. It's very pleasurable to be woken up this way.

The little green clock is handy as well, and it's easy to understand and remember how to set the coffee and times once you read the directions. I like the reliability of it.

I always make sure the plate is free of dust and debris and clean so the unit works and heats more efficiently. It just makes sense.

The knob for adjusting the temperature of the warming plate is convenient, but I always turn it up to highest and just try to drink all the coffee I've made within a reasonable amount of time so it tastes better.

If I'm lazy I throw the glass pot and filter in the dishwasher or just rinse it out easily. No clean up problems. Just remember to take out the filter afterwards. Once I left it in there used for a couple of weeks and it got a bit mouldy! It was no problem though.
