I used to have Presto's small, original SaladshooterŪ but was disappointed in it, especially when it came to chopping celery. That little guy just couldn't make it. I don't know if it was just my problem, or what, but I had a lot of difficulty joining the parts together in that one. When my son sent me a Sears Gift Certificate last Christmas, I wandered around the store wondering how to redeem it.

My eye lit on a Professional Presto Pride™ SaladShooterŪ. It was about twice the size of my old one, very attractive; white with an aqua colored handle, and some colored attachments, and best of all, it had a FLAT base so you wouldn't need to lay it on its side between uses. I thought, "Why not?" and bought it.

And I have never been sorry! This little guy not only chomps up celery quickly, but it fairly begs you for more of the same! Free tip - My husband recently tried removing celery strings from the stalks with a potato peeler, (it works great) which makes slicing or chopping celery even easier and more appetizing. Smart husband. Why didn't I think of that?

Parts

Stand with motor, cord, aqua handle and convenient fingertip off/on switch.

Hopper Base that easily attaches to the stand and in which you insert the cutter attachments.

Guide/Pusher - goes into the hopper to insert and guide ingredients to the cutters. The inside of this pusher can be removed for LARGE items (like whole potatoes or onions), or one-half of it can be removed to accommodate thinner ingredients (like celery or carrots).

5 cone-shaped interchangeable cutter attachments.

1. White for thick slicing.
2. White for grating, shredding
3. White for thick ripple-slicing
4. Wine-colored for thin ripple slicing
5. Aqua for thin slicing

Mounting Ring an aqua-colored ring which holds cutters in the Hopper.

cone-shaped funnel - the wide end easily fits over the mounting ring and the narrow end funnels the chopped/grated food into a small bowl. In other words, POINT & SHOOT away!. .

Uses for the Presto Pride™ SaladShooterŪ.

GRATING cheese, carrots, chocolate, cracker crumbs, etc. It does the job, easily and uniformly.

SLICING Potatoes, peppers, onions, zucchini, what have you? Use the thin slicer or thick slicer according to your wishes.

SHREDDING coconuts,

Warning UNPLUG when changing cutters or scraping out the last bits of carrots, celery, etc. If you'd accidentally hit the switch when doing this, you could probably lose a finger. DON'T FORGET. This is not a toy but a serious appliance.

My Experience with the Professional Presto Pride™ SaladShooterŪ.

Green Salads. It is so easy to use and does such a great job, far surpassing my abilities to chop salad ingredients. The salads even look more appetizing when I've used the SaladShooterŪ - I slice everything except lettuce right into the salad bowl.

Vegetable or Chicken Soups or Stews I love making these but it used to take me a long time to chop up the ingredients. Now it's a breeze. I can't rave enough about how wonderfully this Shooter works.

Slicing potatoes or zucchini for frying.
Grating cheese, carrots, etc. I love CARROT CAKE & this SHOOTER makes making them a breeze.
Shredding/slicing for STIR FRYING
Because I pity the reader I won't list the rest for I think up something new about weekly.

Conclusion and Recommendation

The only thing that can limit the Professional Presto Pride™ SaladShooterŪ. is your imagination. It can do any job that you can dream up.

Easy to assemble and disassemble No struggling with parts. It's easy to change cutters midstream.

Easy to Clean I usually can just rinse the parts under the faucet, but they are dishwasher safe (using the top rack). There's no hassle with cleaning like with some food processors..

Easy to Store I keep a box 12x8x8 on the bottom shelf of my cupboard which holds all the parts and the main unit, and find it to be very convenient and handy.

I recommend it highly It will make your time spent in the kitchen much more pleasant and satisfactory. I know that it has lightened the work for me and I've been using it steadily for THREE YEARS now.
