Originally introduced in 1988, the electric Salad Shooter was so successful that Presto introduced the Professional Salad Shooter in 1990. We initially had the smaller version and used it frequently for cheese and various vegetables. It worked well but we are very pleased with the larger chamber on the Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus and the inclusion of additional cones. I recommend this small appliance for in home kitchen inclusion.

Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus

This small appliance is one of my husbands favorite kitchen gadgets. The main tasks he accomplishes with it include shredding cheese, grating carrots, and preparing various veggies for stir-fry purpose.
My only complaint with regard to the Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus is that it is very loud. However it works remarkably well and has numerous positive points. I adore the fact that the parts are top rack dishwasher safe, and that the base unit cleans easily with a damp cloth.

Each cone houses a unique blade system, allowing for quick option of medium or think slices, ripple cuts, or shredding. These cones are easy to install onto the salad shooter base. After using the cones, we clean them via placement onto the top rack in our dishwasher. They have endured multiple cleanings and continue to work well. The one thing I will caution you regarding is the careful storage of the blade cones. The blades are very sharp and not a welcome intrusion to the unintended finger. AKA ~~ I severely cut my finger when digging for a measuring spoon one day. My knuckle met with the blade edge on the thick slice cone. Oouuch!

The various blades will assist you with slicing and/or shredding vegetables, cheese, and or fruit. I especially like using the Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus for salad preparation. You can achieve rapid slicing/shredding of desired ingredients and they look really nice. Another wonderful use for this helpful appliance is preparation of veggies for stew or soups. My youngest daughter gobbles down cucumber slices and this unit allows me to offer her a variety of slice shapes quickly.

As I mentioned earlier, my hubby likes to use the salad shooter for shredding cheese – the Costco size of block. Preparing in advance allows for plenty of cheese that is ready for tacos, pizza, lasagna, and other dishes. When processing small portions of cheese I prefer the non-electric shredder from Pampered Chef but for large projects this unit is very helpful.

The Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus is easy to use. After selecting the desired cone you insert in into the chamber hole and attach the food chamber (via a twist action) to the shooter base. Now attach the retaining collar. Insert food into chamber and you are ready to begin. The food guide will assist with pushing the food through the chamber.

The enclosed direction pamphlet explains assembly, disassembly, use and clean up. There are also helpful hints and troubleshooting tidbits.

Even though the Presto Professional Salad Shooter Plus is loud we are pleased with its performance and recommend the purchase.
