"modify" one of the special torx screws they use in order to force people to send them in for an expensive repair. Its tank was pretty well clogged up, even though our city is supposed to have good water. I soaked it in a white vinegar solution, and got it working, but it started failing again after about 6 months. I redid my repairs, and again it worked for about 6 months. This last time, I got tired of fooling with it, and we bought a Sunbeam from Walmart. The wife says its a much better iron than the Rowenta...and cost about 1/4 as much.
Bottom line...if you want to subsidize high European labor costs, and several layers of middlemen and distributors, and like to brag about how much you paid, buy one of these. If, however, you want a good product at a fair price, buy something else.
