We just bought this toaster in the silver/black color. Sorry to say this was the only reason we bought the toaster other than it being 4 slotted. We recently changed our kitchen decor and were looking for the all black/stainless look. Being that toasters are so inexpensive to buy and we've never really had one die out on us before, we didn't really put a lot of thought into the quality.

After only a couple months and about 10-15 uses later the lever handle on one of the 2 slices broke off in my hand. You could tell from the outside that the handle itself was plastic, but I expected the straight piece that goes from the handle into the toaster to be metal...wrong...it was plastic too and I am sure was being weakened by the heating and cooling from the operation of the toaster.

I also agree with the other opinion posts about uneven heating. I didn't care much about it because toast is toast to me and we used it so infrequently, but I did notice that some parts were pale while others were black at times and I never could get the setting just how I wanted it.

Spend a few extra bucks and get a good brand. When I do more research and after I use a new one for a while, I will update this post with a recommendation for alternate purchase.
