If you peruse the list of other epinions I've written you'll come across another review on a waffle iron. You see, I've been looking for just the right waffle iron for me & my family for some time. Some make only one or 2 waffles at a time, some are Belgian waffle makers, some are too expensive, & on & on. I just wanted a regular waffle maker (NOT Belgian) that would make enough waffles so I could sit & enjoy dinner along with my family of five. And the waffles had to taste great too.

It wasn't recently when I happened to find the Toastmaster Family Waffle Maker. It was actually back in April so I've gotten some good use out of it by now. Let me tell you about it...


~ Makes 4 4¾” x 4¼” waffles at a time (size is approximate of course). This is a decent size for waffles & really makes life easier for me when trying to serve hot, fresh waffles to my family. Less time is spent standing at the counter & more is spent at the table with my family where I belong. (The overall size of the unit is about 13” x 10” x 4” tall.)

~ Has a white “Cool-Touch” exterior so you will not burn yourself if you accidentally touch the outside of the waffle iron. The exterior is also very easy to wipe clean.

~ The handle has a locking latch making it easy to carry the iron around while not in use. It also makes it convenient to store the iron upright if need be (& I do!). Be advised that the latch is not to be used while waffles are baking!

~ The cooking surface is non-stick. You should spray the grids with a bit of oil before heating the unit but I have found that the waffles do come out very easily without sticking to the grids. Cleaning the grids is a bit of a pain but not terrible. I simply use a damp cloth with a tiny dab of dish soap & wipe it down. Then I allow the grids to air dry before storing it.

~ Waffles always come out of this iron tasting delicious. They are evenly baked & aren’t burned or undercooked.

~ The BEST feature on the Toastmaster is the Dual Ready Lights!! Yea! If you’ve read my other waffle iron review you know I don’t like standing around guessing when my waffles might be done. This unit has a power-on light that comes on when plugged in & also has the ever-so-important green “ready” light! After plugging the unit in there is a short preheat time necessary. When the iron is preheated the green “ready” light turns on. That’s when you open the iron, pour your batter in & close the lid. THEN … & this is a BIGGIE … the green light goes off until your waffles are done when it turns back ON again!! Simply lift the lid & pull your tasty waffles out of the iron. If you plan on making more waffles then the iron would be ready for more batter at this time.


In sum, this waffle iron has everything I’ve been searching for in a waffle iron – makes more than 2 good-sized waffles that taste good, an exterior that won’t allow me or my kids to burn ourselves, & an idiot light to help me know when my waffles are done baking. It also comes with the ever-so-popular LIMITED manufacturer’s one-year warranty but I doubt you’ll need it. I found the Toastmaster back in April (at Sears) & haven’t had any problems thus far.
