I am finally the ecstatic owner of my own Kitchen Aide mixer! I had to wait to have this luxury, because I never could afford it, until now. It is an investment, but really worth it. I have probably beat into the ground 10 cheap hand mixers in my 20 years of marriage; which adds up to about 100 dollars. I decided that paying out the 150.00 for a Kitchen Aide mixer would save me money in the long run. Besides saving me money, this mixer has saved me a lot of time, work, and hassle.

My first experience with the Kitchen Aide was when I was a teenager and my mother got one for Mother's Day from my dad. I was probably the main user of their mixer because being a teenager girl I loved making cookies, cakes and breads. This is when I decided I had to have one of my own someday, that was 30 years ago! What a shame I had to wait so long to get my own.

The Kitchen Aide mixer has 3 basic attachments. It has a smooth cookie and cake mixing attachment. It has the "egg beater" attachment for meringues, angel food cakes. It also has a bread hook and the basic beater. You can also buy a pasta or noodle press, a food grinder, and other attachments. Kinda like the Kirby vacuum cleaner attachments; a whole bunch of attachments you will never use but they are available. The only difference between a Kirby Vacuum and the Kitchen Aid Mixer, and this is an important difference, is you have the option of not buying them with the Kitchen Aide so you are not forced to waste your money! LOL!

I love this mixer because I can put in the first ingredients, turn on the machine and roam around the kitchen gathering and putting away the rest of the ingredients while the machine is doing the mixing. I can also begin cleaning the kitchen and doing other tasks while the dough is being mixed. Side note; make sure the mixer is pushed all the way to a back corner of the counter. The owners manual says the mixer can bounce or gyrate off of the counter. I usually put my flour container in front of it to brace it as well. I always hated having to stand for two minutes or five minutes holding a hand mixer now I don't have to anymore. Just be cautious!

The Kitchen Aide mixer is designed to make perfect dough's. I have never had a flopped batch, grainy or lumpy batch of cookies, cakes or bread. The bowl is very large and you can easily double or triple any cookie dough recipes. It is great to have this mixer when you are baking for a large crowd.


This mixer saves time in the clean up. The bowl and the attachments are all very easy to clean, even when you make sticky bread doughs. Unlike a hand mixer's beaters that are so tricky to clean, the single beater on the Kitchen Aid is flat and doesn't have all the nooks and crannies for the dough to get into. I borrowed my mother-in-laws Bosch bread mixer once, and that thing is a pain to clean. With the Bosch all the dough gets down into little cracks where the pieces attach together in the center. Just the shape of the bosch makes it difficult to clean. The Kitchen Aide's bowl is very easy to clean as well; the bowl just pop right out of the stand and you wipe down with a soapy cloth.

My Mom still has her Kitchen Aide, which is 30 years old now, and it is still in excellent shape. Powerful, clean, undented and still being used today.

This is a great mixer. Don't waste anymore time. Go out and buy one today! (Pssst, you can get a good deal on one at Costco or Walmart.)
