Pros: perfect toast, pastry setting, wide slots for bagels
Cons: outside discolors easily, top tarnishes
I bought my Toastmaster 4-slice Cool Touch Toaster about three years ago. I liked the features: wide slots for bagels and dual controls for each side (two slots per control).
It looked so sharp on my kitchen counter and was used almost daily, as with most toasters.
Within the year, the nice white finish was turning yellow. At the end of the year (and warranty), the side warped causing a noticeable gaping hole between the seams. I can only assume this was from the internal heat. I called Toastmaster and told them of the defect. They told me there was nothing they could do as the toaster was over one year old. I reminded them it was just 14 months old. Didn't matter. The warranty had expired.
The crazy thing about this, is that it still works! The toast (and bagels) still come out perfect every time.
Because of the discoloration and the warped outside, I, now, have to put the toaster away when not in use - but it still gets used almost daily. Why it didn't stop working when the side blew out is a mystery, but I guess it's all in the name: Toastmaster - Master of Toast.
