Pros:Lightweight, practically indestructible
Cons:Pricey
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vacuum cleaner for its durability but after a couple of years the inside suffers from build up and it has to be taken apart to clean.
I have had so many vacuum cleaners, I can't count them on two hands. Some would last a month, some six months if they were lucky. I have this problem with vacuum cleaners - I always break them. Usually it is a large object being sucked up and destroying the insides completely. I'm sure, if you have kids, you know what I mean; hidden quarters, marbles, you name it!!!
My husband gave me a last chance when he ordered my ORECK XL and said "If this doesn't work, we'll go with tile floors and I'll buy you a mop!"
Am I glad it was an ORECK. This vacuum cleaner is lightweight with industrial strength and is practically indestructible. Yes, I've sucked up quarters, marbles, you name it, and I still have a perfectly working vacuum cleaner a year later. Because it is lightweight, I can clean my 2,080 square foot home quickly without wheezing from exhaustion. I even let my 9 year old use it without fear of damage. I recommend this vacuum for all who have kids and husbands who like to play hide and seek with large objects and anyone who doesn't like to mop.
Update: As this vacuum cleaner gets older, it starts to clog on the inside whereby you must literally take it apart to unclog it. Hair and dust balls build up on the inner mechanisms also.
This did become a problem but I still vacuum cleaner stand by the fact that this vacuum is hardy and is very hard to break.
This is the area in which I see its value the most.
