I'm a single guy and vacuuming isn't exactly on the top of my list of things I like to do. So if I have to do it I want to do it with the least possible aggravation. My Sharp EC-7311 Vacuum Cleaner does just this! Whoever designed this model must have seen Star Wars. It has an uncanny resemblance to a baby R2D2.
I've owned my Sharp for just about 2 years. During this period of time I have challenged it to perform seemingly impossible tasks. I used it for everything from snagging enormous dust balls under my sofa to vacuuming my car.
As a general-purpose vacuum this is the baby you might want to consider. Its lightweight, rolls along without hesitation, has great suction and is easy to change bags.
The attachments are minimum and utilitarian. The handle and head are all made of impact resistant plastic. The hose is also plastic, which has stood up to all my pulling, lifting and yanks when the unit gets stuck under tables and chairs.
The EC-7311 comes with a retractable cord controlled by a push button. I wish the cord were a few feet longer. Regardless, the retraction mechanism still works flawlessly leaving no messy knot filled cords to deal with. There is an on/off rocker switch located on the top of the unit and a folding handle that sits neatly and flush within a cavity on the top of the unit.
The two best features of the Sharp EC-7311 are it's lightweight and it's incredible suction. My unit vacuum uses throw away paper bags which cost about $1.25 each to replace. Packages of 5 or 10 bags can reduce this cost even further. A foam rubber filter membrane that is easy to remove, shake clean and reattach protects the intake of the fan.
By now you can tell that I'm really into this vacuum!
The unit actually cracks apart like an egg when you replace bags. A lever cracks the unit apart and a push button releases the replaceable filter bag. New bags are installed by sliding their square paperboard tops into a guide and simply snapping the unit closed. Done!
This particular vacuum cost me less than $100.00 to buy brand-new two years ago. Its rugged construction has been put through the test. It's extremely handy for vacuuming out your car and it is so small and light weight that towing it around the house is not a chore.
When you are done using the Sharp EC-7311 is stores upright in a very small space. The tube has a small clip and pin that slides into an opening made into the canister. This allows the unit to fit into a vertical space without the hoses and nozzles lying all over your closet.
There you have it! A Guys review of a vacuum cleaner! I really like my Sharp and if by some slim chance I did wreck it I'd certainly buy another!
By the way, this unit sucks up marbles with ease but I haven't put it to the bowling ball test! I'll save that for a future review.
