| kjhyatt's Full Review: Frigidaire FWT449 Washer |
After much comparison shopping I purchased this washer and it's matching dryer. I purchased both in April of this year. Out of the box the lock on the front door was defective, it buzzed all the time. I called for service and the part was ordered. It took several weeks before the part came in. The part was replaced and the washer did fine for about a month. It did a good job of washing the clothes and spinning them very dry. One drawback to the spin cycle is that the clothes are so dry they wrinkle very badly unless you shake them before drying them. After about 2 months the washer began to not spin the clothes dry at all. Water was left in the drum. I may have to run the clothes through 2-3 more spin cycles to get the clothes dry enough to put in the dryer. In the past month it has began to get "stuck" in the wash cycle for several hours until I move the timer to the next cycle by hand. It has been serviced several times and the washer has been taken into the shop, but it still fails to spin the clothes dry about every 3rd time. I have 3 friends that bought the same model sets about the same time, and they have had door locks, pumps and bearings go out in some of them. For the price these washers are I would have expected a better quality product. Finding the low suds detergent is also a problem, many stores don't carry it, and when you find it the cost is high.
