| adidas30's Full Review: Nextel i700plus Cell Phone |
WELCOME TO NEXTEL IS RIGHT. God is this a cool phone. Not only does it come in a durable hard pact casing, but an industrial construction yellow. Right off the bat I would like to say that this phone has the most promise to become the family phone of the future. The genius that was put behind Nextel (Motorola) makes keeping in touch with the family a snap. I will get to that in a second.
I want to mention that this phone, although being slightly bulky (this is due to the fact that it has a lot of new technology inside of it~ again I will get to it so be patient), has superior physical enhancements from the conventional run of the mill phones. The exterior shell has a rubber coating on the sides to insure a firm grip is held on the phone. Unlike nokia, which has a somewhat glossy surface that isn't always kind to the grip. It has durable numbers that won't wear and fade out like some of the older Motorola's. In addition to the above, it has a large display that reads easy, provides ample navigation to features without having to scroll through them fifty times. When you look at the phone you get a feel of symmetry. It is perfectly sculpted to around the inner workings of the essential buttons; provides enough mic and ear space to enhance communication, and has a durable antenna that is extendable.
SWEET, SWEET FEATURES
This phone also comes with an incredible amount of features. That is why I predicted that it would be the next family phone of the millennium. There are several phone number features on this phone, as every phone should have. This phone just so happens to have turbo dialing-referred to by many other manufacturers as one-touch dialing-this feature allows you to have 8 turbo numbers at your fingertips. Just simply press and hold the number that corresponds to the phone that you have programmed in and it will turbo dial that number.
Another neat feature is the phones ability to view the last 10 numbers received and sent. This is based on the call list. It can store up to 10 numbers for easy dialing. Caller id, which is also a must, is on this phone. You will never be interrupted by someone you don't want to talk to. Another feature that lets the user customize phone numbers is the quick store option. This particular feature instantly adds phone numbers and private ids to your personal directory. If you have missed a call, an indicator alerts you to it so you can get back to the person.
Vibracall, similar to the vibrate feature that some phones offer, allows the user to customize alerts via the vibrator for incoming phone calls, voice mail, text and number paging with out the use of a single sound. Don't you hate when you are in a movie and your phone starts ringing. Well this eliminates that worry.
On to the more advanced features of this phone.
~This phone offers a slew of new technological advancements.
3 way calling, although not new, it adds to the phones capabilities.
Also included is call forwarding, free emergency dialing to state police in Nextel areas-report emergencies and what not
Also included is call restriction, which limits the numbers that can be dialed, so say if you lend the phone to you kid, you can limit him to dialing the house or the other cell phones. This way he won't be able to ring up the bill to an enormous amount.
Call waiting, text messaging that is stored in an e-box until it is read (can be saved or deleted), and an additional line option. Now that is a great idea. Have you ever seen the people who where a cell phone and a pager. With Nextel that is eliminated. You can have one line be dedicated to business, and the other line be dedicated to personal. Voice mail is also included. I am not done though.
The Best part about this phone is the new stuff. Not only is it compatible with a ton of pc's and pda's for Internet browsing and fax transmission, but also it can be a two-way radio.
This is where the phone becomes the family phone of the future. You can take the phone everywhere with you, talk on it to you kids and wife like a walkie talkie, and receive phone calls when you aren't. This two-way radio feature is some of the best work I have seen a good while.
Some real technical aspects of the phone are the 4 line alphanumeric display. There are several icons for battery and signal strength, voice mail and paging notification, which phone line you are currently one, call forwarding, and signal strength. Things that are to come in the future are wireless Internet services. Hopefully WAP will be included (wireless application programs). The phone is made by Motorola and has a 1-year manufactures warranty. It also comes with a slew of accessories to make your life easier.
Cons: little big and bulky, somewhat expensive, service plans are costly. You have to understand that when you buy this phone you are buying it when the technology is new, if you wait a little while and more companies follow suit, albeit you will see a drop in the cost of the service and price of the phone.
