My oldest has had an iPod Shuffle a while, and she had a stuffed animal she could connect it to listen to music out loud, only the stuffed animal was huge and not all that easy to put just anywhere. So for her birthday, I got the iHome Portable iPod Speaker System, which I had been eyeing forever, and finally remembered to pick one up at Wal Mart. I paid $19.99 for it, and it comes in several cute colors, but I got the hot pink.

The system is not all that large, maybe 6 inches long and around 4 inches tall, and it is sort of a triangular shape. The speakers are on the ends, and there is a little tray that slides in and out that you rest your iPod or any other MP3 player on. As long as your MP3 player has a headphone jack, you can hook it to this, it doesn't necessarily have to be an Apple brand one. There is a jack included with it that you hook it to. You control your volume and song selection via your MP3 player.
The system runs on 4 AAA batteries, and mine happened to have them included, but I don't think all of them had batteries with them to be honest. Ours also came with a little black velvet case as well. There is an on/off/bass boost switch on the very top of the unit. As far as battery life is concerned, this is still on its first set of batteries.
I was really pleasantly surprised with the sound quality of the little thing, to be as small as it is, it really cranks out a great sound. This thing is so portable too, you can put it on a desk, bedroom, even set it on the bed and not have a problem. The sound on the thing is really what impressed me.
This is really nicely priced and comes in so many different colors, and the sound quality is great and it is so portable. This would make an excellent gift for someone and I'd highly recommend it.
