rxbrown's Full Review: iRobot Roomba 560 Robotic Vacuum
We have a total of three roombas, a 560 and two 4110's. The 560 is broken right now (about 4 months of use), the main beater brush assembly is not turning, (probably broken teeth on the gears according to their website). We are awaiting a backordered assembly to replace it under warranty.(backorder might be a sign of a widespread issue and a problematic assembly). We have a german shepherd and the 4110's seem to do a better job with the hair. However the 560 is more modular and is quieter during operation. The 560 has better seals to protect the internals and is programmable for cleaning times. Overall we like the roomba concept, but it is a trade off, you spend less time vacuuming and more time cleaning the roomba! Still there is something to be said about just lighting it off and walking away to do something else. Can't recommend any roomba to someone who does not or is not capable of dealing with the high maintenance (cleaning brushes, rollers and sensors after every mission). Can't imagine my wife doing it. Don't plan on getting rid of your old hand operated vacuum (stairs, hard to reach, cluttered areas), but the roomba does help in between manual vacuuming.
