| garethusa's Full Review: iSkin ProTouch PB (PTPB-AR) Keyboard Protector |
I wanted to keep my Apple iBook (14'') keyboard clean and from having my cat's shedding and every multiplying hair invade the deep pockets of space underneath my keys.
Since I liked the iSkin I purchased for my iPod mini, I went ahead and purchased the iSkin ProTouchPB Form-fitting Silicone Keyboard Protector for Apple PowerBook and iBook for $24.99 plus tax.
It came in a very slim package that made you wonder if there was even anything inside - and yes, the protector skin was in there. After opening the package, it just felt like a very thin gummy bear!
The model iSkin I bought was PTPB-AR Arctic and it helps with the following:
* Protects while you type
* Soft tactile feel
* Molded to fit each key
* Leaves key characters visible
* Washable and long lasting
* Quiet keystrokes
It is also compatible with PowerBook and iBook G3 as well as US/European international keyboard layouts (excluding Japan).

Did I get my money's worth?
I believe so and more.
For one, the protector certainly provides a new feel to how I type on my laptop. Since I type fast, usually you can here my click-aty, clack-aty of the keys. But with the iSkin, all is relatively quiet.
The iSkin takes about a day or two to really mold into each key but from the first time you put it on, it completely fits about 95%.
I like the way the protector skin also makes the keys look. The color of the keyboard and the key characters are extremely visible.
Because I do have a cat and he loves to hang out on my wrists while I am typing, I still do have hair that lands on the keyboard. However, now it lands on the iSkin.
After a week, I did my first wash. And yes, it is washable. After an hour of letting it air dry, the iSkin was ready to go back on the keyboard looking as new as the day I bought it. And fully functional too.
Another great benefit of having the iSkin keyboard protector, is that when your laptop is closed, the keys won't leave an impression on the screen as if you had not had one in the first place. This was something I regretted with my first laptop since it did have the keys imprinted on the screen.

Taken from the package, here are some instructions on initially using the skin and how to take care of it:
Before applying the iSkin keyboard protector, wipe the surface of the keyboard clean to remove finger oils, dirt or food. Place the iSkin keyboard protector over the keyboard to match each key. Massage into position until perfectly fitted. Type as normal. May be left on keyboard at all times. Remove and wash occasionally to avoid screen staining from collected dirt and other impurities.
Maintenance:
Remove the iSkin keyboard protector from the keyboard and wash in a mild solution of warm water and dishwashing liquid. Rinse and air dry thoroughly before placing back onto the keyboard.
