Pros:easy to use, effective in its rotation
Cons:not something I can count on daily
The Bottom Line: The bottom Line is I enjoy having this spray to use, but I don't use it daily.
No matter the change in hair style the last few years, I still seem to pick a style that requires me to flat iron my hair. I've tried various heat protectant sprays over the years along with these styles. Heat protectants provide a supposed barrier between your hair and the very high temperatured flat iron and try to minimize the damage and drying to your hair. It's a product I've always typically used in one form or another since I've started using a flat iron.
One of the products I purchased was John Frieda Frizz Ease Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray. John Frieda seems to have a knack for making products that sound like I need to have them! This long winded named product basically is a spray you spritz on to towel dried hair before blow drying and flat ironing. You can also use this spray as a step after blow drying and directly before using the iron. I've tried using it both ways.
This product comes in a white plastic spray bottle with easy to use spray nozzle. It is approximately 6 ounces worth of product. It claims to have "ThermaGuard Complex" which "protects against damage for up to 24 hours." 24 hours, I just want it to work the first 5 minutes when I straighten my hair.
The product is easy to use and has no particular smell. It sprays easily and I can them comb in through my hair in no time at all. I've used it on both towel dried and dried hair - though I prefer it on towel dried hair. I find that on dried hair, by spraying this product section by section into my hair might get a "straight" look but it also often gives me a too straight/weighed down/greasy look that I don't prefer. I've read that you can spray your hands with the product as well, and then apply to your dry hair and straighten, but I don't particularly prefer that method either.
So I find that the towel dried method works best. I feel kind of average about this product. I find that it is not often my #1, first pick. If I use this product and this product only daily, after a few days my hair just feels dry and like it's not getting enough protection. I have a few other more "oily" products that I use that I prefer --- but I have found that I really, really do like to use this John Frieda Frizz Ease Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray every few days as a change up from the heavier oils that I use.
So I am quite undecided about this product overall. I'm almost to the end of my spray bottle, and I'd hate to not replace it. I like having it around as an alternative ... but only that. If I didn't have it, I'd have to go shopping around for another spray that could work as an alternate. Still, I cannot use this consistently and it's not something I reach for daily ....
so I like it "in" my hair straightening arsenal, but it's not a top choice.
