First off let me say I love Davis' style of writing. I have read DNM about

the civil war and US history and loved them both. I guess I am biased. With that in mind, let me say I thoroughly enjoyed this DNM about the bible. When I was in college I took an old testament religion course. This probably would not have helped much in that situation where exact facts were needed to past tests. At this point however, if you are looking for a relaxing read and some stimulating intellectualizing about the good book, have a go at it. Davis in the introduction states he was a religious scholar at one point. That is nice to know considering some of the speculation and joking he makes about the bible. Religious zealots will probably find the book offensive, but a person willing to think a little deeper will enjoy some of his thought provoking questions. For example if the judeo/christian calender goes back 5,000 years, then why do we find cave men carbon dated back millions of years. Why do all the worlds great wisdom teachings have creation and flood stories. This and more can be found within DNMA the bible. In fact I asked my spiritual leader once what he made out of these questions. The answer was interesting. He said he always takes the bible seriously, but not literally. That goes for Davis as well!
