Kenneth Cole KC4727 Watch

The review is on the KC4727 (Kenneth Coke product code) Women's Transparent Stainless Steel Bracelet watch which I bought my wife as a birthday gift a couple of months back from Amazon. Later on, will compare it with the one she has wearing for the past year or so which is the KC4829 Women's Stainless Steel Rose Gold Watch with Brown Mother of Pear Dial.

I’m glad my wife chose the KC4727 (Yes she chose the gift!) for her since I too had picked it as my choice before making the order.  There are a few standout features in the watch which makes it simple yet elegant with the Kenneth Coke touch. 

The main reason I prefer Kenneth Cole is due to durability, quality and the elegant designs which all come with affordable pricing. Be sure to however inspect the product when you receive it from any store other than purchase from Kenneth Cole website since there could always be defects caused by poor storage and handling. (This is of course a 3rd party induced defect and not anything to do with the product build or quality)

KC4727 key features

Band
The 18mm wide band is made of stainless steel silver links and connected by transparent polycarbonate attachments. The length is approx. 8.5inches. We had to remove 2 links to fit the band around my wife’s wrist. It’s always recommended to remove equal number of links from either side of the band tin order to keep the balance of the watch. 

Dial
The dal as with any watch is the centerpiece. This watch has a transparent dial about 36mm in diameter surrounded by a stainless steel bezel. The transparency is on the outer side of the dial center. Now let me give a cautionary note here. When you wear the watch your skin will show through the transparent portion of the dial. Not sure how this would look on different skin colors. However on light skin it looks lovely and there’s no distraction to view the time or just glance at the watch. If you have doubts I would highly recommend checking any of the Kenneth Cole transparency collection watches to decide if transparent dial is just right for you. Also for small slender wrists the watch might be too big. Make sure you get the basic fit right or go for a smaller watch. 

Display and hand movement
The display as you will see is analog (no numbers displayed as in digital time) with silver and white, two toned hour and minute hands and a rather outrageous dark blue second hand. When I say outrageous, the second hand stands out in the dial and may not be preferred by some. The second hand rotates smoothly over the dial instead of the tick tock kind of staggered movement. The watch is powered by a cell battery and the time can be adjusted using the single silver stem. 

Clasp
One of my favorites on Kenneth Cole watches is the clasp which has the Kenneth Cole signature embedded in a silver setting. The fold over clasp is fitted by a single push button for a very secure fit. 


Comparison with the KC4829
The KC4829 which my wife used to wear for the past year or so has been reliable with no battery change required in its entirety. However looking at it now and comparing with the KC4727 the watch looks a bit dull and too basic. 

The changes listed below will give the comparison in a nutshell.

Dial, Display and hand movement
The KC4829 has a brown dial color which is the most obvious difference from the transparent dial of the KC4727. 

The silver bezel surrounding the dial is stainless steel however has a matte finish to it which goes through the band as well. 

This watch has a slim gold colored two hand (hour and minute) movement and does not have a hand to show the seconds unlike the KC4727.   

The other notable difference is that the KC4727 has second markers which is very practical and makes time reading easier whilst the KC4829 has 5 second markers. 


Band
The band has a gold center lined on the outsides with stainless steel silver and again has a matte finish to complement the brown dial. 

Apart from the above differences the KC4829 is also marginally bigger in dial diameter and the bracelet is also slightly wider and a touch heavier.
