sugandha's Full Review: Eddie Bauer 3-In-1 Convertible Car Seat
We needed a bigger car seat for our son as he's already out grown his infant car seat.
Some information about the car seat:
1.This car seat includes a 35-pound turnabout that keeps baby rear-facing until at least age one.
2. Converts to face forward for toddlers 22-40 pounds
3. Coverts into a belt-positioning booster for children who are 30-100 pounds
4. Amenities include: a padded headrest, an infant insert for newborns, a cup/juicebox holder, and a five-point safety harness
5. armrests flip up for easy positioning.
I bought this one as I thought we wouldn't need bother about getting another one for our son and the reviews on epinions.com and amazon.com seemed to suggest that this is a good car seat. When we got the demonstration at the store it seemed like it will be pretty easy to install in the car.
we got it home and I pulled it out of the box tried to install myself. With the manual in my hand I tried to figure out how to thread the Latch belts, but the instructions are poorly written and I wasn't able to do it. My also husband he tried it and couldn't figure it out.
So I made an appointment with our local police to get the seat installed by a certified person. It took the cop an hour just to figure out how to thread the latch belts.Once threaded, we found out that they were really short and barely even reached the hooks in the seat. I can understand people saying that the latch belts should be short, but i think we should have a little leverage and the ability to tighten it after hooking the belts.
The cop tested the recline and found that the seat doesn't recline enough for rear facing installation. So he ended up putting a noodle under the seat to make it recline to the correct degree. Tightening the latch belt so that the seat was secure and didn't move around, was another pain and took him another 20 mins to do as he had to keep unhooking the belt adjusting the strap, rehook the belt and then tighten it!!! it was a nightmare and I could see that he was getting a little upset with it....
Well finally, after almost 1.5 hrs the seat was installed. now it was time to test the seat with my precious cargo.
My son was only wearing a medium weight jacket (not one of those bulky ski-like jackets). I put him in the car seat, buckled the shoulder straps and then found it difficult to buckle him in as the center buckle was pinching into his thighs. I thought maybe I just need to get used to it and use it a few more time. Well I've done that and even with light clothes on, I'm scared of my son getting pinched when I try to buckle him. Also the straps have already started twisting and its very inconvenient to keep straightening them out all the time. All this in less than a month
the car seat is going back to the store and i'm getting the Evenflo Triumph.
