| skiergirl24's Full Review: Camp Bernadette |
Alas I am now, at 27, too old to go to summer camp:( I went to Bernie every summer as a youngster (for 1-2 sessions). I LOVED camp! Bernie is a fabulous camp! The girls really form intimate bonds with each other - and have a BLAST! The camp is clean, well maintained and fun! And then the waterfront location..WOW. It does not get much prettier than Lake Wentworth. Bernie is not a "Status symbol" camp. You don't need to have a trust fund to send your kids there...and no one walks in with a chip on her shoulder either (I know that many summer camps are for the "elite" rich kids...but Bernie is not like that...it is all about fun...PURE fun...the stuff of fair tales!)
I spent my days swimming, playing games, horseback riding, arts and crafts, playing volleyball, performing in the summer plays, sailing, water tubing etc. I remember always having things to do...the days went by so quickly...filled with activities and new experiences. Nightime was spent giggling in the dark with bunkmates, sneaking out for "raids" and telling ghost stories. I'll never forget the time I spent at Bernie. When I have kids I am going to make sure they experience summer camp-it has given me a lot of wonderful memories!
