Pros: The scenery and atmosphere are awesome! Being in the middle of the woods, away from family and friends, yet knowing that you are surrounded by people that love you!
Cons: 14 girls, 1 cabin, 6 outlets... you do the math! In order to have a warm shower you have to get up at 5:30am!

| Liccardi's Full Review: Camp Bernadette |
I spent six of the most wonderful summers at this all girls/ catholic camp! From 1986 to 1991 I was a camper (Intermediate 86-87, Senior 88-91) and a CIT (Counselor in Training) in 1992. My parents decided to send me to Bernie since I was extremely shy and did not have many friends. The first year I spent there I only stayed for 2 weeks. Most of the campers got to camp via the Garden City bus. (A group of busses that arrive in Garden City, Long Island and take everyone directly to camp.) Its a great way for everyone to get into the camp spirit! After the first day I knew that I never wanted to leave! The counselors were GREAT! Personal time was spent with each camper and the entire staff ensured successful group activities. By the end of those first 2 weeks I knew everyone in camp! My parents could not believe the difference! This camp seriously changed my life! Its now been 8 years since I visited Lake Wentworth but I know my heart is still there. The camp hosts annual reunions for staff members and in 2003, Bernie's 50th anniversary, there will be an all camp reunion.
Why should you send your child to Bernadette? There are too many reasons to list! Activities range from horseback riding to sports and waterfront activities to Arts/Crafts. Quite time and Free time is given to every camper every day! There is a camp store where girls can get supplies, snacks, and STUFF! Every other Sunday there is mass and, if weather permits, it is usually held outside. The campers are woken every morning by the bell and put to sleep every night with Shrine.
An average summer at camp includes 4 2-week sessions and each session has special activities! These activities include Christmas in July, Olympics, and Carnival. Each session is dedicated to one of the three age groups. (The first 2 weeks are for the Juniors, 2nd for the Intermediates, 3rd Seniors.) There is a group outing, a play, and special treats. Your child will not only learn about religion, community, respect, and spirit but she will also learn about herself!
