User Rating: Excellent
Responsiveness of Camp staff:
Pros:excellent program, knowledgeable staff and counselors, great environment for growing up in
Cons:the Texas heat is something to consider (especially for 2nd term in July)
The Bottom Line: I encourage everyone to send their child to Camp La Junta, and afford them the opportunity to develop life-long relationships with a great group of campers and staff.
I spent the summer of 2001 as a Senior Cabin/Activity counselor at Camp La Junta, where I supervised the Riflery and Hunter Safety programs. I have attended and worked at several camps prior to joining the CLJ staff, and I absolutely recommend CLJ over any other place that I have visited. I fell in love with the program and general atmosphere from the start, and I felt like I was leaving home at the end of the summer. I cannot wait to return to Hunt, Texas, this summer and I hope to see lots of new faces as well. Also, if you love working with great kids, visit the camp website www.lajunta.com to fill out an application. The program offers everything from horseback riding to swimming, SCUBA, canoeing, sailing, archery, riflery, go carts, and a great adventure class based on high and low ropes elements.
