There are too many words that describe Camp Shane and my experience there, but if I had to write one paragraph about it, this is what I would write: Camp Shane is an amazing, life changing camp. When I got to Camp Shane in summer of 2009, I was nervous to see if it was fun, whether the work was really hard, would I would make friends, and to see if it would help me lose weight! All summer, I made so many friends that I still keep in touch with over Facebook. I discovered a lot about my body and my health. The staff at Camp Shane were so nice. I knew if I ever had a problem I could go to them! After camp, I was sad to go. It was just so fun! The best part about this camp, is that while you are there you don’t even know you’re there to lose weight, because you’re having so much fun! There are arts and crafts, special events, night activities, trips, swimming, sports, and aerobics. There is also trips to the lake, where you can jet ski, ride the banana boat, take tube rides, or you can just lounge on the beach! When I got home, after I lost 14 pounds at camp in 3 weeks, I kept working at my weight loss by signing up at a gym and continuing to eat right! I learned a lot about nutrition and portion control at camp too! I am definitely going back next year and I can’t wait. Also at camp, we have rap where we can express our problems and life experiences and realize that we are all the same. For me, Camp Shane is a safe haven where I can go and not worry about getting made fun of for anything. Most of my friends are going back next year too. That’s why I love Camp Shane!!!
