We just started watching the kids TV show, Dora The Explorer & we are in love with it! I have an almost 5 year old boy and an almost 2 year old boy and they both will dance and "interact" with Dora and her animal friends.
Dora The Explorer is about a little girl who does all kinds of adventures. She uses "easy to understand for a young child" words. Dora The Explorer also "interacts" with the viewers to help her get on her way when a problem arises during her journey. While she speaks mostly in English, she also uses Spanish. I think it's wonderful that she uses Spanish words, as it teaches young children some simple words in a different language.
In the episode of Dora The Explorer that we have watched, Dora helps a train get to the "Big Yellow Station" to win the whistle. There are many times in the show, when they are going along on their journey, where Dora interacts with the viewers. Dora looked in her back pack to find something to use so they could have a light while going through the tunnel. She named all the items in her back pack and interacted with the viewers to help pick the flashlight. Swiper the fox "swiped" some of their train track squares, so the viewers helped Dora The Explorer to find blue squares. They were hidden in a picture & used in different things such as a bird house. There are many "interactive" times during the show where viewers are able to help Dora The Explorer and her friends on their way.
My sons just love Dora The Explorer and have learned some fun new things from the show. We will continue to watch this show daily, as I feel my son's benefit from it.
