Pros: Worked fine in my early years, but today?
Cons: The show was a mislead for my later years.
The Bottom Line: The Chipmunks is not recommended because from my own experience, the poor story lines and characters make the show a train wreck.

| quasisp's Full Review: Alvin and the Chipmunks |
Alvin and the Chipmunks is a show that I would not recommend for anyone. Although if you asked me if it was my favorite in 1985, I would have said otherwise, I know now that it is not. Here is why:
As I have discovered later on, the voices are apparently created by taking recordings and playing them at a faster speed -- I found out this chilling fact at my employment around 1997 or 1998 -- a worker had to mute his boom box when making hi-speed dubs because the effects that resemble the Chipmunks would drive him crazy. I know it does for me, unless I was informed well in advance. Today, however, when I hear music like this, I think of singing cats, since the altered sounds resemble cats a bit more.
As for story lines, the show went downhill after its first year. By the middle of the third season, I had lost interest in the show, and by 1997, I had severed all ties to the Chipmunks for good. The story lines were not well-produced, and after 1987 (the time the Chipmunk Adventure, an absolute motion picture train wreck, was released), the episodes were so lame, it made me wonder why this show became a series at all.
The only good side was the characters, if you would call them good. In their early years, they looked like real chipmunks, but from the versions from 1961 on, I could already see trouble. In fact, from the time period from 1976 to 1986, the Chipmunks was indirectly responsible for my social skills and part of my academic skills being far weaker than they realistically should have been. I now regret that move I made in 1976 and have taken steps to avoid a repeat of this problem in the future.
I know most people would disagree with me, and I understand their feelings, but I wanted to explain why the show is one I would not recommend at all.
