i am quite a fan of akira toriyama's artwork and animation, and i was introduced to dragonball z about 3 years ago and loved it. it maintains an interesting, exciting storyline, there is a saga with character development, and it is a very colorful and fun cartoon. i was quite excited to hear that it would be appearing in cartoon network's 2 hour anime block, toonami.
the animation is something that i will always love, but there is so much lost in this cartoon when you are watching the English-dubbed version. it appears as if the objective of the producers was to find the most ridiculous voices to speak as the characters, and it takes away from the whole experience.
however, for children, i think that this cartoon is quite worthy of watching. there is no gruesome violence in the dubbed version, the importance of school is stressed, and the importance of patience and training is also touched upon. this cartoon is a lot of fun, but if you want to see it in its best form, i would suggest hunting down copies of the subtitled version.
