Years ago when the Star Trek series (the OLD one from the 60s) came on, people were awed by the technology that was shown there. If you think about it, there were lasers, representations of personal computer workstations and diskettes, and even a representative of what is now our cell phone.

So, it's with great interest that I continue to watch another show from my childhood based on the future and wonder whether our lives will one day develop into the life of the Jetsons.

I often wonder now if I will be able to punch a few buttons and have food come out of a machine fully cooked without me slaving over a hot stove, having automatic home cleaning devices, and more importantly, a shortened work week!

Could it happen? Why not? But there's one thing that will have to happen before that occurs, and that is world peace.

If you notice in the Jetsons, there is no war or hostility between anyone on the earth. Everyone lives in harmony. So, if we're really going to become the Jetsons, we'll all have to change for the better.

One day I do pray that I get to see that in my lifetime. Until then, I'll dream of the future through the eyes of a cartoon that I dreamed my family could live within.
