Pros: I love all characters, especially Ojo.
Cons: I don't have any. I wish I could watch it and get paid for it.
Bear in the Big Blue House is a show featuring Pip and Pop the twin otters, Treelo the lemur, Tutter the mouse, Bear, and Ojo the little bear cub chick. This show concerns facts of reality and teaches kids how to be a good person. One can learn to not be afraid of showing their creative side, how to express their feelings in a helpful manner, and how to be kind to others.
I started watching the show when I was eleven. During that time, I didn't know the value of friendship. I had friends, but I was totally clueless around them. When I started watching Bear in the Big Blue House, I began to realize how truly amazing friendship can be.
I like all the characters. They each have different personalities that make them so great, but one character that really caught my attention was Ojo the bear cub. Ojo is the little orange cub with the incredible imagination, the sweet personality, and the most beautiful voice (singing and speaking) I have ever heard.
Ojo plays pretend, mostly with Treelo and Tutter. She makes up an island opened to all her friends called, "Ojo Island." She also pretends to be a mom, and her cute little teddy bear, Snowbear, is her daughter. I remember the episode where she was bathing Snowbear in the sink and singing to her. It was so cute! She bathed her and went downstairs to feed her, just like a real mom. I think Ojo will make a wonderful mother when she grows up. She's got the nurturing all in her head now. She even knows how to hold a baby. It's so cute how she cradles little Snowbear in her arms, like Mary probably cradled Jezus.
Ojo is extremely, incredibly, undescribably sweet. She's got that sappy, sympathetic yet cheeerful personality inside of her. She may make her friends feel left out, like when Treelo thought she replaced him with someone else, but she would never let anyone else take their place is her heart. She never meant to hurt Treelo. In fact, Treelo found out that Ojo was thinking of him and all her friends the entire time. She may lose her temper at times, and yes, she may act like she hates her friends, but she really doesn't. She loves them dearly and wouldn't replace them for whatever reason. People, if you don't like Ojo, and you think she's snobby or whiny, take some more time and listen to the whole situation. She may not say "sorry" all the time. She has her own way of apologizing. Please just listen to me. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it's how I feel. She's the main reason why I have so many friends now. I learned to not hog all the attention and act like the most beautiful princess on the planet. It took a while for me to realize what a dweeb I was, but with guidence from Ojo, I finally found my way home. I even have friends (in high school and college) that admire her too. Ojo is my hero, and she always will be. I don't know what kind of person I would be if it wasn't for her.
I was also having so many problems in high school because of my visual handicap. Half the kids in the school bullied me around. I couldn't take it anymore, and there was hardly anyone to turn to, accept Ojo. Now, I imagine myself as Ojo. What would Ojo do in a situation involving bullies? If someone were to talk smack towards her, she would say, "That big mouth of yours won't get you any further than a job at McDonnald's, flipping burgers and getting fired for ruining them!" Now, if she dealt with people trying to hurt her physically, she would say, "You know, one of these days, all this physical abuse is going to land you in jail, you idiot!"
I wrote this review, because I read a very offensive and hurtful memo on this sight saying that Ojo should be dropped from the show. That really insulted me, so I wanted to express myself and say that Ojo really is a good role model. If other people can't see that, they need help! Why hate her? She's the sweetest, most gorgeous and talented bear cub I've ever seen. I beg you not to make fun of my review, and please don't tell me I'm wrong. I've benn watching this show for 6 1/2 years, and I even have almost every episode recorded. I even have over 50 songs on CD, and I have the Ojo Plushy. See, I take time to get to know something as much as possible before judging it. You'd be surprised at how well I know Ojo. Her favorite color is red. Her favorite song is "Shape of a Bear." Her favorite book is "Snowbear and the Bea Have a Picknic." Her hobbies are drawing, pretending, bike-riding, dancing, and singing. She's part Austrailian, because she has and uncle from Austrailia. Throughout the episodes, her voice matured as she grew. I am an Ojo fanatic. Keep Ojo! Don't throw her off the show. LONG LIVE PRINCESS OJO OF EARTH!!!
