Pros: Fun, educational, not annoying, creative
Every now and again I like to change the channel from Nick JR over to the Disney Channel and see a different show from Blue?s Clues and a few others. My toddler doesn?t seem to mind too much from the change of pace, she is usually running around playing, only stopping to watch when something catches her attention like when they sing. :)
Bear in the Big Blue House Is produced by Jim Henson Productions. The same people that brought you The Muppet Show (my favorite show as a child) and The Fraggles (another I enjoyed). If you enjoy muppet programs like this and others such as Sesame Street you will enjoy Bear in the Big Blue House.
Bear in the Big Blue House airs at 11:30 a.m., during Playhouse Disney. Each shows runs for approximately 25 minutes (they do mini clips during the extra few minutes of the half hour) and runs commercial free.
Here is a list of the cast that you will see every day on the show:
Bear is our wonderful Host throughout the show and also owns the big blue house that everyone loves to be at.
Ojo, a younger bear that hangs out at the house and is usually with Treelo or by herself, she has a wonderful imagination and is always playing things like tea party or treasure hunt any thing to do with the use of imagination.
Tutter is our cheese loving blue mouse who has an interesting attention grabbing voice. He?s a cute little mouse and is curious too.
Shadow she only comes out when Bear calls for her but she tells wonderful stories that are illustrated with eye catching black and white. She always adds a little twist to an old favorite story or rhyme.
Pip and Pop are two purple otter friends that do everything together and can often be found in the bath tub or other areas of water. :)
Treelo A lime green, blue-striped young baby squirrel who speaks baby gibberish, only every once in a while can you make out a word out two.
Luna Is our moon and Bear talks to her at the end of every show sharing the experiences of the day. They also sing the Good-Bye song together at the very end of the episode.
What can you expect from the show?
Each day Bear and the others great you by signing the Welcome to the Blue House song. It is an energetic song that gets your excited and ready for the show. Bear also does this cute little sniffing after the song telling you that you smell of something yummy or sweet (it could be a scent like apples or waffles from breakfast or you could just smell nice like after a bath). Whenever he starts sniffing my daughter would sniff also and just laugh I think that is adorable.
Bear in the Big Blue House offers great lessons of moral and values all the time. They do shows on such things as Sharing, Colors, Numbers, Feelings, Exploring/Imagination and much more. They dedicate the whole show to that particular lesson. If you are learning about numbers everything everyone is doing in the house that day is related to counting and numbers.
They always sing one or two songs in the show besides the welcome song and the good-bye song. There are two other songs that they sing often the first one they sign when they clean up the house. This makes it sound like it?s tons of fun to ?Clean Up the House?. The other one is when they are brushing their teeth it?s called ?Brush Brush Bree?. These are two great educational songs that you can also see played during Playhouse Disney when Bear in the Big Blue House is not on.
Every show ends with Bear going up to the Attic and out on the balcony to talk to Luna. He shares with her the experiences of the day and what he or someone else in the house learned. Luna always enjoys hearing Bear tell his stories and participates in signing the Good-Bye Song with Bear before she goes off to light up the big night sky.
My final word
I enjoy this show tremendously and love watching it each day with my daughter. Sometimes I think I enjoy it more then she does LOL, we sing and dance to the songs.
This is one of the best educational programs out there for children that is on cable T.V., it doesn?t run so long that it looses the attention of younger children and it?s simple enough for them to fallow. But it is also entertaining to older children and even adults. This is one program I?m sure the whole family will enjoy sitting down and watching together.

Emily Rose, the young daughter (15 months old) of fellow Epinion member:Amy (ImAmes on Epinions), http://imames.epinions.com/user-imames is dealing with countless doctor appointments, hospital visits, and surgeries due to her battle with Retniblastoma, a form of cancer, which is found in the eye. Most recently, the family has been told that the tumor is still there, and even though the fluid in her eye is growing less, over time the gene in her body has a good chance of producing more tumors through out her body.
