| MumMumMum's Full Review: Bear in the Big Blue House |
Bear in the Big Blue House is a great show! From the opening notes of the theme song to the final credits this show is educational, entertaining, and just plain fun! My one year old daughter jumps up and dances as soon as it comes on. I of course join in, not because she expects me to (although she does) but because I just can't help it!
Bear lives in a big blue house with Tutter the mouse, and Ojo, a little girl bear. Pip and Pop, two adorable purple otters, and Treelo, a multicolored lemur, are frequent visitors. There are lessons to be learned every day, and whether they be about friends or potty training, they are all extremely well done, with humor and love.
It is so much fun to watch the antics that Pip and Pop, the lovable purple otters, get into, and Tutter, such a nervous little mouse that he is, needs so much help some days that you just have to get involved. I really like that Ojo does what some would term "little boy stuff", be it going on Safari or collecting bugs. I enjoy the visits by "Ray" the sun, and we always sing together when we say goodbye with Luna the moon.
The absolute best parts of the show are "What's that smell?" (although if my daughter's just done her "business" in her diaper I don't really think she smells like sunshine!), and of course "The Bear Cha Cha Cha". We have actually purchased maracas so we can properly join in!
My entire family has fallen in love with the show, even my husband, although he is a little concerned that if Bear ever shows up at our door I may run off with him! Even my 8 year old son, who thinks most children’s programming is “sucky” always watches and joins in on some of the songs. It’s a very contagious program, I have actually even started doing the “Bear Cha Cha Cha” while grocery shopping. And what’s even more amazing is once a complete stranger joined in with me!
Now I have to go...it's time to sing "Everybody clean up, let’s clean up the house!"
