Pros: Host has a lot of enthusiasm about animals and kids soak it all in.
Cons: Scripting of the show doesn't match the image that the show is being filmed in the wild. But then again the reference, Going "Wild" can be just a play on words--and I'm nit picking.

| mkosak's Full Review: Going Wild with Jeff Corwin |
In reading the epinions of this show, the thing that caught my eye was Tina Cruz's description of Jeff Corwin's enthusiasm and his manic love of animals. I think she summed it up nicely with those words.
Corwin's enthusiasm and manic nature are what has hooked my kids into the show. He has a real love for animals and it shows through. This is a very educational show and I'm sure kids can't resist the host's hands-on approach to discovering nature.
Amazing Animals and Going Wild With Jeff Corwin are my kids two favorite nature shows. The formats of the shows are completely different, but both shows are equally entertaining and educational. Amazing Animals is paced somewhat slower and appears to be geared more towards a younger audience (ages 5/6 - 8/9), while Going Wild is geared towards kids 9 and up.
I enjoy seeing the animals featured on the show and learning about them. The only problem I have is the scripting of the show. Many of the nature shows on the Discovery Channel are video taped with the narration inserted after the taping. Corwin's dialog implies that the show has been planned and scripted ahead of time.
In every show he'll make a reference similar to "...and maybe we'll see a...blah, blah, blah". The next thing you see is the "blah, blah, blah" he referred to. It seems a little phoney. Jeff will climb on a horse and ride off at the end of a show, yet I get the feeling that he's really in a zoo filming these episodes because he's "always" able to locate the animals he casually mentions.
With other animal documentaries film crews are out in the wild for months on end to get the video footage they need to produce a show. I'm sure that the producers of Going Wild With Jeff Corwin don't have the luxury of spending weeks or months obtaining video footage of animals in the "wild" for this weekly show.
My kids have never mentioned anything about this to me, this is just something I've picked up on watching the show. I guess I'm concerned with honesty/integrity and "pretending" to be in the wild filming this show as opposed to honestly stating where the show is being taped kind of bothers me.
