Timon & Pumbaa are two adorable characters who were "born" in the Disney's Lion King Movie. They became favorite characters in the movie, so the Disney Channel now has a 30 minute segment cartoon series dedicated to this dynamic duo. Timon and Pumbaa live a very carefree lifestyle, which they call "hakuna matata", which often delivers them into the "hand of trouble"!
Here's some detail on the characters that starred in the Lion King movies, as well as are the main focus of this cartoon:
Timon is a hyperactive, crunchy bug eating meerkat. A meerkat is a small, meat eating creature that usually belongs to a pack. This specific character, Timon, is a loyal friend who has a mouth that goes a mile-a-minute. Loyal to Pumbaa, he still makes jokes at his partners' expense. The voice Timon is spoken by Nathan Lane.
Pumbaa is a "slimy bug" eating warthog who doesn't realize he's not the prettiest face on the block. He has large tusks, growths on his face, has a gas problem, but is a loveable, loyal friend to Timon. Like his "true life" animals, He'd prefer to take a nap in a cool place that was meant for someone else. He is the brundt of most of Timon's pranks, but is happy with life no matter what happens. The voice of Pumbaa is spoken by Ernie Sabella.
The theme of the episode, no matter how exaggerated it's displayed, has a whole hearted delivery. There is cartoon violence, and indications of "adult" type humor, but overall is purely entertaining. This show is better viewed by children of school age who would be able to understand what is going on by way of cause and effect.
I enjoy watching this show, which airs in the late afternoon in my area, and believe that Disney was successful in transforming these "on screen" characters into a delightful daily cartoon.
For those who can not get enough of this team, you can access Disney's online page for the "Grub Grabber" game which you catch and steal bugs as the characters described above. Here's the direct link to the game:
