As a devoted anime fan, I watch a lot of Japanese animation. I'm always watching and discovering new and different anime. But compared to a lot of other anime, Digimon really isn't all that spectacular. I don't understand why children are always so thrilled about stuff like Pokemon and Digimon. I've watched it for a couple of weeks until it got incredibly boring. The only reasons why I watch it these days to see my favorite characters: Matt and Kari & digimon: Gatomon. In my opinion, the story is a total snore... -.-;
-Brief Summary & Info-
Digimon is basically about a group of kids in Japan who goes to camp. And one day, they are warped into a whole new world.. A realm known as the digital world. Every day in the digital world equals a few seconds in the real world. The group of kids are digi destines and were sent to the digital world to save it. While doing so, they also attracted the evil digimons to the real world. So the future of our world all depends on the digi destines.
Most children think that Digimon was a copycat anime of Pokemon. But let me tell you, that isn't true... In fact, Digimon was created before Pokemon was. So HA! Digimon simply means "digital monster" and Pokemon means "Pocket Monster." What's wrong with having two anime about monsters? It just makes me a bit frustrated to know that young people blame Digimon for the faults that it never had.
-Animation-
Compared to other anime, the animation of Digimon is quite awkward and not too pure of quality. But the animation is detailed and amusing. I just don't enjoy the animation. But that's just me. ^-^
-Music-
Once again compared to other anime, the music is lacking as well. To me, the theme song is incredibly lame. -.-; They just constantly repeat the "Digimon, digital monsters are the champions!" An annoyance to my ears...
-Characters-
The characters are one of the only reasons I have for watching this show. They are only thing about this show that amuses me. All of them are interesting, unique, and funny. Their personalities somewhat are represented by their crests. Their fun loving characters make the show appealing and humorous to watch. My favorite characters are Matt, Kari, and Gatomon.
-Recommendation-
I think this show is recommended for children ages 7-12. Some of the content in the show are more complicated to understand for younger children. And older children, at times, are uninterested in the show's theme. For anime fans, Digimon really isn't the best anime to see. But I think anime fans SHOULD check this anime out.
-Other Anime-
For children ages 7-12, there are many great anime presented on television.(But most great anime, are more often in subtitles or on tapes.) Children should watch Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, and Cardcaptor Sakura. In the near future, many other anime will come out on television (hopefully).
