Allegra is a puppet who is a 3-year-old girl, but she is one of the best teachers a child could have.
This show "feels" good! It's difficult to explain. As a parent watching it with my son, I felt good. Allegra is one of those shows that puts children into a trance. When my son was in preschool and we had an occasion to be home together, he loved watching Allegra. I was amazed that when the show came on, he was like a sponge just soaking in what the characters were talking about.
The characters and sets were colorful. A wide variety of media was used: puppets, children and adult actors, animation.
The material on the show is delivered in such a way that it's easy for preschoolers to understand. One of the shows was about having the Chicken Pox. The timing of the show was appropriate since there was a Chicken Pox epidemic at my son's preschool. He was able to relate to the show and come away with an understanding and sensitivity about how his friends who were out of school must be feeling.
This is a great show which is age-appropriate for preschoolers and kindergarten age children. I highly recommend it.
