Finally a show targeted at pre-school audiences that encourages thinking and problem solving! The show's characters are endearing, not only to children, but also to parents. No more nauseating (and hypnotic, for some reason) singing purple dinosaurs!
Steve and his adorable animated dog Blue are the stars of the show. Each show is unified by an educational theme like measurement or counting. Blue leaves Steve and the audience three clues by stamping items with her blue paw print. Steve engages pre-schoolers by asking them intelligent questions. Do not be surprised or alarmed if your four-year-old is talking back to the TV! Steve takes notes on his notepad by drawing pictures (encouraging pre-emergent readers and writers to experiment with "writing" and communicating by drawing pictures).
By the end of each show, children have learned a practical skill or concept that they can continue to work/play with at home. (The show's scenarios are always acted out by using common household materials).
Blue's Clues is a winner and can also be enjoyed/ tolerated by parents who are fed up with the "Barney" genre of kids' shows.
