Oddly enough, Disney had gold in its hands with this show, but it was decided to cancel the show, the only survivor of the 'B-player' program, which was also cancelled.
The show could, can and always will be able to count on a base of dedicated fans. People who grew up with this series (such as me) and refuse to part with it...
What neither of us understands, is how Disney could be inconsiderate enough to stop the show at 65 episodes, seeing as how much of the backstory was yet to be unraveled. Another thing, which is in itself incomprehensible, is the lack of publicity and advertising done for this animated series, which featured state-of-the-art animation for that time. If given enough opportunities, many of us believe that Talespin can still touch the heart of many viewers, no matter what their age is.
Interested fans should at least check out the comment board and other sites, even if only to realise they are not alone...and the spirit of Talespin is not dead.
And contrary to popular belief, Kit Cloudkicker is not the sidekick, but the main support character. His backstory alone could fill another 65 episodes.
