I am not really sure how long this show has been on as we have just recently discovered it on the Nickelodeon Channel but we LOVE it!
Finally a cartoon for children that displays real family values and teaches life lessons. I find myself watching this one as much as the kids do. What else would you expect from a cartoon based off children's books by Bill Cosby?
Little Bill deals with real issues for a child his age. Things like trust, honesty, giving, and more. One episode I really enjoyed dealt with Little Bill going to his cousin's birthday party. First he tried to wrap the present and knocked it off the table and broke it. Little Bill was afraid that he would be in trouble and hid from his mother. His mom handled it perfectly, all of us parents could probably learn a thing or two from her. Anyway, they got another present and were off to the party. His mother was careful to explain to Little Bill that was his cousin's day and not his birthday which is something all of my children have had a problem dealing with when they were little. once at the party Little Bill finds that another child has bought the same gift as he did and he is concerned that his cousin won't like his because she will have two of the same thing. Once again his mother handles this SO well explaining that his gift is special because it is from him. Everything turned out fine and Little Bill learned a great deal that day.
That is just an example of one show. They all deal with those kinds of lessons for children. Little Bill is surrounded by extended family who help to guide him through his day. I particularly enjoy the fact they his Grandmother is part of the family and he has a wonderful relationship with her. He has a brother and sister and many of the shows deal with their interactions with each other, both good and bad. As always the family is there to work out things together. What a fine example of what families can do if they work together.
There are just SO many things I love about this show besides the fact that all three of my children, ages 11 - 21 months really like it. This is a "real" family, no talking turtles, no orange aliens, just real people, a real family working together to raise and teach a five year old boy.
If you or your children have never watched this show I highly recommend it! Look for it on Nickelodeon.
