As a parent of two, one age six and other age two, cartoons are a major part of their life at this age. I do prefer that they watch some educational shows, but somehow this little Sponge dude keeps popping up on my tv. In all honesty, I think the show can be funny at times, but much of the humor is over the head of a six year old, let alone a two year old. The show doesn't teach much other than the sloth of Patrick, the unambitious nature of Squidward and Sponge Bob and the greed of Mr. Krabs!

One episode in particular, where Sponge Bob learned some swear words was just inappropriate for young children. Or the one where Sponge Bob thinks that it is funny to keep ripping his pants, faking a drowning so that he can have everyone rush over so he has a crowd to rip his pants in front of. These are just a few of the age inappropriate episodes I have seen. Yet Nick puts this show on when young kids are up and watching tv on a Saturday morning! I try to limit the Sponge to maybe one episode a week. It really is a dumb show that doesn't teach much to young kids. I rate it age appropriate for a 10-12 and up. Anything below that and it is just not appropriate.
