Pros: Fun, silly, bright colours and images.

| wadjiin's Full Review: SpongeBob SquarePants |
While babysitting, I happened upon this show and was thoroughly mortified that Nickelodion would put something as lousy for your brain as this show on their network. Spongebob Squarepants may be interesting, fun, and certainly creative, but if you want your kids to learn ANYTHING off of the television, count this one out of your planned programming.
The show starts off with bright colours and flashy images to grab attentions, and it works; the kids sat in front of the screen in a complete trance. The characters are friendly and active, and there are some really cute and sweet songs on the show which, coupled with the friendly atmosphere, I thought put forth a positive message. However the storyline is so bland and disinteresting that it helped me decide that this show is worth nothing to a hungry mind.
To-day's episode was about a "Land Squirrel" who lived in a biodome in the ocean with Spongebob (Spongebob, by the way, "lives in a pineapple under the sea." I think most of the details of the show are really cute and creative, which is a big part of why I gave it three stars). The whole episode revolves around Spongebob not being able to stay with the Land Squirrel because it's too dry in the biodome for him to sustain life. The plot is pretty cute, but I don't know if many little kids would grasp the concept of a sponge not being able to stay wet on land. That's why I put 6-8 under age level. So the storyline is pretty dull.
The animation is really upbeat, and they do some really awesome stuff with real objects mixed with the cartoon footage, however, there is nothing in this show that gives a kid's brain something to get hold of. I don't recommend this show to be constantly in a kid's agenda. Stick with Gullah Gullah Island and Rugrats.
