Kirkland Brand Ibuprofen Saves Money
Written: Apr 19, 2012

Pros:A great value! They work.
Cons:Don't work as fast as gel filled capsules
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a great value, this is it.
We always have three pain medications in stock in our home. Ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and aspirin. My husband takes daily aspirin on advice of his cardiologist, we like acetaminophen for headaches and ibuprofen for muscle and other kinds of pain.
I've been dealing with a lot of leg pain and my doctor has suggested I take both ibuprofen and acetaminophen for pain. She said to take ibuprofen first and about an hour before it is time to take more to go ahead and take the acetaminophen. I don't do this on a regular basis, but when I do I get more relief.
Buying the brand names of ibuprofen, such as Advil or Motrin, can become very expensive. I generally buy the cheapest I can find, since my doctor said the generic versions are just as effective. We make a trip to our local Costco store about once a month, and we always come home with some kind of medication or nutritional supplements because the prices are so outstanding.
Kirkland Signature Ibuprofen comes packed with two bottles that contain 500 count each, for a total of 1000 pills. Each of the small, round, reddish brown colored pills contains 200 mg of ibuprofen. The two bottle package retails for only $12.00, which is a fantastic price. Costco also sells a 360 count bottle of Advil for $19.00, so obviously the Kirkland brand is a much better value if they work for you.
I love the small size of these tablets because they fit so nicely in my pill holder that I keep in my purse. Larger, gel filled ibuprofen capsules actually start working faster than these pills do, but I can fit three times more of the smaller pills in my pill holder.
Kirkland Signature Ibuprofen pills have a thin coating on the outside so they don't leave a bad taste in my mouth. They are easy for me to swallow, and I am not a fan of swallowing pills ... whenever I can find them in a chewable form I tend to do so.
When I can find the gel filled capsules at a good price I will buy them over the pills. Sometimes Fred Meyer or Walmart will have their store brand on a 2 for 1 sale, and that's a good time to pick some up, but overall the Kirkland Signature Ibuprofen is inexpensive and it works.
I recently had a small lump removed from my nose so the doctor could do a biopsy on it, and after leaving the dermatologists office we had other errands to do in town (since my husband took the day off work to go with me). About an hour later I started to have pain and I took two of these pills out of my purse and had relief within 20 minutes, so they do work fairly fast. Overall a solid product at an impressive price.
This medication works on pain and inflammation, and can be used to treat the common cold, headache, toothache, muscular aches, backache, minor arthritis pain, menstrual cramps and reduction of fever.
