Pros:Works great, inexpensive compared to name brand and other generics
Cons:Must have Costco membership to purchase
The Bottom Line: Kirkland Maximum Strength Acid Controller works as well as Maximum Strength Pepcid Acid at a fraction of the price.
I know what causes my heartburn. My primary enemy is sugar. Personally, I find it is a food, or more correctly a food addition, that is difficult to avoid. To eliminate the uncomfortable burning sensation in my esophagus I use Maximum Strength Kirkland Acid Controller, a generic version of Pepcid AC.

What You Get
Just like Maximum Strength Pepcid AC, Maximum Strength Kirkland Acid Controller contains 20mg famotidine which relieves heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach brought on by eating or drinking certain foods and beverages. Kirkland Acid Controller is recommended for adults and children ages 12 and up. You swallow one small, white, round tablet with a glass of water. You can take up to 2 tables in a 24 hour period.
Why Kirkland Acid Controller?
With my Costco membership I can purchase 2 bottles containing 85 tablets each (170 total tablets) for less than $10 compared to $15 - $20 for 50 name brand pills. That is a difference of about $.25 per tablet which amounts to over $180 dollars per year for me, more than paying for my Costco membership! Even buying the least expensive generic I can find I still save over $20 a year by purchasing Kirkland Acid Controller.
Kirkland Acid Controller is not indicated for the immediate relief of heartburn symptoms. You need Tums or Rolaids for that. Ideally you want to take Kirkland Acid Controller before you eat food that is likely to give you heartburn. If you only occasionally suffer from heartburn you may not know what is going to trigger and episode. However, if you are like me, and suffer from heartburn on a daily basis taking Kirkland Acid Controller, regularly, as directed will stop the pain before it starts. I take one in the morning and one at dinner and it keeps me symptom free all day. I have tried other acid controller medication in the past and none work as well as the active ingredient famotidine. Others like Zantac didn’t last a full 12 hours and I would experience some heartburn symptoms in between pills.
While I probably do not need to take Kirkland Acid Controllers every day, it certainly is more convenient than having to carry Tums around with me where ever I go. For me, Maximum Strength Kirkland Acid Controllers do what they say, control my heartburn without having to avoid foods I enjoy.
