Pros:good noise reduction, durable, great price, good bass
Cons:none. the perfect basic pair of quality headphones.
The Bottom Line: Whether you like Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Jay-Z, or Dave Matthews Band, any album will be intensified with these Koss UR-20 headphones.
Let me start by saying that I am not an audiophile. I can't tell the difference between frequencies easily, and small differences in sound quality overall likely might go unnoticed by me. So I consider myself the typical music lover who wanted to improve his overall listening. For $25 (maybe even less), the Koss UR-20 headphones are a great buy. At the least, a great introduction into the world of headphone listening.
These headphones are pretty big, and also pretty durable. I've tossed them all around my college room at various times, on the ground, bedposts, probably slept on them many nights--and they still look brand new. The earpieces are snug to your ears, but not too tight, an overall comfortable fit. There are better headphones to reduce outside noise surely, but not for anywhere close to $25.
If you're saying "why bother listening to headphones at all, music sounds fine out of speakers", then you definitely have never had a quality pair of headphones before. I'm not talking about little earbuds or the ones you get with a portable cd player. These Koss headphones lock in sound so you hear subtle parts of a song that you may never have heard when playing the music aloud. The bass is pretty substantial as well, which I think is a good thing. I use them hooked up to my computer, which produces a great sound, but when I hooked them up to my Sony stereo receiver the sound was amazing.
If you've previously only listened to your favorite albums outloud or with subpar headphones, then you owe it to yourself to buy a pair of these. They're the price of two albums, maybe less, and your whole music collection will be substantially improved.
