Didax™ Two Color, Counters in Storage Bucket,   red on one side and yellow on the other, measuring about 1 inch in diameter are offered by Learning Resources.

Sold in packets having varying quantities; these poly counters are used by Osage County First Grade Little Mathematicians as manipulatives for sorting, categorizing,  patterning, counting, addition, subtraction, as well as for beginning probability and estimation exercises.

State and Common Core Teaching Standards mandate that Little Learners will develop Number Sense, Work with Patterns to hone skills, and develop Addition and Subtraction skills; developmentally fitting mathematics curriculum for Grades 1 – 5 must support the discovery of an extensive diversity of mathematical concepts as it advances in-depth planes of comprehension by centering on core theory and procedures.

I find providing a number of different manipulatives help solidify the individualized curriculum for each Little Learner.  Little Mathematicians receive instruction based on individual needs of each learner.

Research has established that learner achievement relies heavily on the mathematical groundwork that is launched during the first years of education.   Mathematics curriculum rich in helping Little Mathematicians grow theoretical appreciation of quantity, space, and situational problems

Hands on Math activities thrive as Osage County First Grade uses a diversity of manipulatives including these two-color counters.  Sets of the discs are available as red on one side, white on the other, or as yellow on one side and red on the reverse, Osage County First Grade budding Mathematicians uses the yellow and red lead to counting, sorting, categorizing, introduction of algebraic concepts, determining probability and estimation as well as use during the introduction of mathematics operations Addition and Subtraction, and more.
